Trent and Brittni
I spent a weekend on Lake Crescent with a few other photographers last August. On our last morning at the lodge we woke up early, grabbed our canoe, hot coffee and peaches for a quick breakfast, and went out to catch the first light on the lake. I took these the day before I flew home to Pennsylvania and it was the sweetest way to end my trip. If you’ve never spent a morning on the water, it’s something I recommend. Everything looks softer in morning light.
I remember talking to Trent and Brittni earlier that weekend about how many years they’ve been together and thinking to myself how sweet their story is. I love photographing couples with a sweet story. It was really meaningful to spend the weekend with such rad people, definitely rejuvenating in the midst of busy season! I’m glad we made time to squeeze in one more morning on the lake before we all headed our separate ways. I love the whole story behind these images. Even though we shot this in the summer, it was actually a lot cooler and windier than it looks. As a personal preference, I love wind during a shoot. It adds an extra little something that I just love and creates such beautiful movement in the photographs. We were fairly bundled up but still, I was pretty thankful for the hot coffee.
At one point the wind blew our canoes in separate directions and it actually gave me the perfect opportunity to get some wide shots of Trent & Brittni on the water. I love close up, cuddly shots so I’ve been intentionally shooting a little wider lately and loving it! This morning was one of my favorite parts of the weekend and I love that it was an impromptu shoot! So fun!
