Hannah and Stephen
Location: Sandy Point State Park
I photographed Hannah and Stephen on their wedding day nearly two years ago, during the first year of running my own business. As I’m going into my third wedding season, I look back and still feel so thankful for this couple. Hannah and I have kept in touch over the years, and started talking a few months ago about doing a session to celebrate their wedding anniversary. We spent some time exploring Sandy Point State Park in Maryland last weekend and had the sweetest session.
I love shooting this time of year! The air is starting to get warmer and it was a great excuse to spend an evening on the beach at Sandy Point. It’s so fun to see past couples who are still so wildly in love with each other, which is a big part of why I’m embracing wedding anniversary sessions this upcoming year. The wedding day is just the beginning, and anniversary sessions are such a fun way to document their marriage together.
One of my goals for this year is to start incorporating film into my sessions. I started playing around with film a few years ago and have never been brave enough to use it during shoots. So this year, my goal is to be a bit braver in my life and in my business. I brought my film camera to the session and went through a roll of film. My goal for this year is to use film as a supplemental part of my imagery, an element I use to challenge myself creatively and to continue to get better as an artist. The biggest challenge so far has been trying to patiently wait for the film scans to come back. For now, I hope you enjoy the digitals.
