Cascade in Leavenworth
One thing I loved about this workshop that I didn’t talk about in my first blog post was some of the content we dove into. We spent some time talking about the usual: workflow, editing, client experience, etc. which was awesome because it’s always fun to learn about how other photographers handle those aspects of their business and can give a refreshing perspective on new ideas. But what I loved most is how much time we spent talking about more important things, in my opinion. We talked about how important it is to know WHY we are doing what we do. And that’s something I’ve been slowly learning about myself ever since the workshop last summer. I’ve been slowly working on a blog post where I dive into WHY I’m a wedding photographer and how much purpose I find in my job.
The other aspect I loved was how much time we spent growing our knowledge of film photography. Benj is an amazing teacher so it was great to learn some film strategies from him. Benj also arranged for Josh Moates from the Indie Film Lab to attend the workshop to school us all on our film knowledge. Learning from two film experts like Josh and Benj made my film loving heart super happy! I feel like I walked away from the workshop with so much more confidence about shooting film.
The images below were photographed at a styled wedding shoot in Leavenworth Washington. The styled shoot was put on by Benj at the Cascade Workshop last summer. Feel free to check out my first blog post from Cascade via the link I posted in the first paragraph. It features the first of three styled shoots I photographed while attending the workshop. Also I know I can’t be the only one oohing and ahhing over this gorgeous wedding gown! We were so fortunate to photograph several stunning gowns provided by The Dress Theory Seattle.
